About the role
The role of a Seasonal Sanitation Technician with Wawona Frozen Foods will be involved in all activities related to food security and sanitation programs. As a sanitation technician, they will be responsible for plant cleansing, sanitation, and pest control. Additional responsibilities include being in compliance with GMP's sanitation policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods' Safety program to maintain a healthy and injury-free environment.
- Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
- Compliance with all GMP, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.
- Empowered to notify and/or act in response to any issues or concerns within the scope of work.
- Wear all the required personal protective equipment.
- Good time management skills
- Maintain a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production.
- Meet timelines.
- Uses water hose to clean floors and production equipment.
- Uses high pressure water hose to clean floors and production equipment.
- Uses shovel to discard waste product.
- Fills 5-gallon buckets of waste product and discards waste.
- Works with around chlorine products and sanitizing chemicals.
- Must be able to use PPE (personal protective equipment) (PPE equipment provided).
- Works closely with sanitation supervisor and production personnel on sanitation problems.
- Must be able to follow and understand all company and regulatory product quality standards, sanitation standards, food safety standards, employee safety and environmental standards.
- Report any product and/or equipment issues to your immediate supervisor.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand/walk on feet 95% of shift.
- Must be flexible in schedule and able to work in Clovis and/or Fresno plant (24 hours' notice).
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor or manager.
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalency
- Sanitation experience is preferred, not required.
- Strong listening and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent time management skills
- A strong work ethic and a can-do attitude.
- Self-motivated and self-starter.
- Must be punctual and regular attendance is required.

Pay
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour, depending on shift and experience.
Schedule
This position will work out of our Cedar or Alluvial location. 2nd shift and graveyard shift.

Physical and/or Mental Demands
- Work in an environment where there can be medium to loud noise and in cold temperatures.
- Stand and walk, feel, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally requested to sit and talk or hear.
- A fast-paced environment that requires high attention to details and minimal down time.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Work flexible/varying schedules to support the team, customers, and deadlines.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and ability to see all colors.
- Wear appropriate personal protection equipment and adhere to dress code as outlined for working in a food manufacturing facility.
