Seasonal Production Packer, 2nd Shift

About the Role

Alsum Farms & Produce is seeking 10–12 seasonal Production Packers for the second shift during the busy September‑through‑December harvest season. This temporary position offers extra earnings for the holidays, valuable experience, and the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role.

Responsibilities

• Repack potatoes and learn stacking patterns to correctly stack bags and boxes.
• Stack 50‑pound boxes neatly on pallets.
• Stack 50‑pound bales neatly on pallets.
• Stack 5‑, 8‑, 10‑, 15‑, and 20‑pound bags in bins correctly and neatly.
• Set up pallets and bins throughout the day to keep the packaging process running efficiently.
• Wrap bins with plastic wrap or netting when necessary.
• Weigh potatoes to ensure bags and boxes meet weight specifications.
• Clean up around the machine you’re working on, pick up good produce for the production cycle, and dispose of garbage properly.
• Perform cleaning tasks on the Master Sanitation Schedule as required.
• Unload rail cars and trailers as needed.
• Dump 100‑pound bags of potatoes into holding bins.
• Clean out potato bins and tear open returned bags of potatoes for dumping.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Agility to climb stationary ladders and into potato bins.
• Repetitive movements and good manual dexterity required.
• Exposure to airborne particles or fumes.
• Ability to lift, move, and carry 50‑pound boxes and 100‑pound bags of potatoes.
• Requirement to wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas.
