About the role
The Cashier’s role is to ensure that every customer is served in a friendly, professional, and in a timely manner. This includes greeting customers as they enter the Campus Store and processing customer purchases through the Point of Sale (POS) system. Provide excellent customer service and is responsive to customer needs. Utilizes resources effectively to manage workload, achieve production, and provide quality services to customers.
Responsibilities
- Receive payment by cash, credit card or gift card.
- Scanning merchandise and ensuring pricing is correct.
- Assists management in daily unit operations to ensure that proper procedures and guidelines are in place and followed for provision of quality products and services.
- Resolves customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Consistently maintain a balanced drawer.
- Answers inquiries, provides information, and interacts with customers according to established guidelines.
- Greet all customers in a friendly and welcoming manner and offer assistance when needed.
- Maintains clean work areas and tools/equipment.
- Uses interpersonal skills to build customer confidence
- Maintains positive working relationships with customers and co-workers.
- Affords assistance at offsite selling locations and provides the same customer service experience as in the Bookstore.
- Affords assistance at offsite locations as needed.
