SEASONAL PARK AIDE - RANGER

Under general supervision, performs basic manual labor, maintenance, and/or public service or guide assignments in the Washoe County Park System.

Location

Various Washoe County Parks. Required weekend and evening shifts may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three months of public contact experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of training and experience.

License or Certificate

A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.

Conditions of Employment

• Individuals appointed to this classification will be required to submit to a medical examination, covered by Washoe County.
• Background checks will be conducted through the State of Nevada and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
• New and rehired employees are required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation. The $39.00 fee will be deducted from the first paycheck (effective January 1, 2025).
• Employment is contingent upon the results of the background check, though a record of conviction will not necessarily bar employment.
• Employees must reside in the state of Nevada or neighboring California communities (e.g., Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, or Susanville) by their first day of work.
• This is a non-classified, non-benefitted seasonal position lasting no longer than 6 months.
• Seasonal hourly employees are "at-will" and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
• Retired PERS (Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada) employees must ensure they do not exceed the assigned PERS earnings limit for a fiscal year to retain retirement benefits. Contact PERS at 775-687-4200 for updates.
