About the role
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple seasonal positions and may close at any time once vacancies are filled. Apply early for best consideration.
Responsibilities
- Assist year-round State Park staff in the protection, maintenance, operation and repair of state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment and systems.
- Perform basic tasks in a single area of park operations (e.g.: janitorial work, landscape maintenance, interpretation or visitor services).
- May guide the work of individuals or teams composed of volunteers, seasonal, and/or temporary state park employees.
Requirements
- Six (6) months of experience (paid or unpaid) performing public contact or customer service duties (e.g. Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.).
- Six (6) months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours).
Special Requirements
- To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.
Desired Attributes
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience communicating well with others.
- Ability to use a computer to record and verify information, perform basic data entry, and navigate reservation systems.
- Experience providing customers with information about facility rules and asking for customers to comply with facility rules.
- Experience handling cash, making change and preparing simple cash reconciliation reports.
- Skill in the safe use of tools, material and motorized equipment associated with landscape and building maintenance and performing related duties.
- Experience performing custodial duties including cleaning public restroom facilities.
- Skill in promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
