About the role
The Night Houseperson-Public Area Attendant ensures immaculate cleanliness and service in guest accommodations, back-of-house areas, and public spaces during the night shift, adhering to the hotel’s elevated standards and Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) protocols.
Responsibilities
- Clean and stock all assigned public areas, including corridors, elevators, stairwells, balconies, patios, public bathrooms, restaurants, pool area, offices, and service areas on guest room floors.
- Remove trash, wipe down shelves/counters, sweep, mop floors, and transport non-floor closet items to proper storage areas.
- Timely provide linen supplies, stock floor closets, and deliver/retrieve items requested by guests and room attendants.
- Safely transport guest luggage to and from rooms with care.
- Maintain and check equipment functionality in collaboration with the Engineering department.
- Respect guest privacy during room interventions (cleaning, maintenance, linen delivery).
- Deliver in-room dining orders promptly with high presentation standards.
- Transport room service trays/items from guest rooms/hallways to designated locations.
- Maintain effective communication and teamwork with all hotel departments, including Front Office, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage.
- Coordinate cleaning schedules for special events and high-traffic areas.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Wear appropriate uniform/PPE for cleaning tasks.
- Inspect furniture for dust, debris, tears, or stains; clean, remove, or report damages to supervisor.
- Dust and clean picture frames, mirrors, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs, air vents, windows, baseboards, corners, ledges, phones, drapes, doors, planters, lamps, light fixtures, and switches.
- Polish brass surfaces to a high gloss.
- Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property; turn in lost and found items to supervisor.
- Install drapes, make up cribs/rollaway beds, and transport them to designated rooms; rotate mattresses/box springs per schedule.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and equipment; requisition low-stock items.
- Drive company vehicle to gather/deliver linen and supplies from storage/laundry facilities.
- Review and prioritize assignment checklist to complete all duties before shift end.
- Maintain professional personal appearance and hygiene standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role with understanding of luxury hotel service standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- Valid, unrestricted, and insurable Florida Driver’s License in good standing.
- Ability to read, write, and speak basic English, including workplace policies, job instructions, and safety protocols.
- Clear communication with guests and staff.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.
- Ability to navigate all hotel departments and facilities.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, crawl, and handle objects/equipment; push, pull, grasp, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs.
