About the role
As a Houseperson/Public Area Attendant, you will ensure an immaculate housekeeping experience across all guest accommodations, back-of-house areas, and public spaces, upholding the hotel’s elevated standards and Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) expectations.
Responsibilities
- Clean and stock all assigned public areas, including corridors, elevators, stairwells, balconies, patios, public bathrooms, restaurants, pool area, offices, and service areas on guest room floors.
- Remove trash, wipe down shelves/counters, sweep and mop floors, and transport non-floor closet items to proper storage areas.
- Timely provide linen supplies, stock floor closets, and deliver/retrieve items requested by guests and room attendants.
- Safely and efficiently assist with transporting guest luggage to and from rooms with care.
- Maintain and check equipment functionality in collaboration with the Engineering department.
- Ensure guest privacy during room interventions (cleaning, maintenance, linen delivery).
- Transport room service trays/items in guest hallways to the appropriate location.
- Maintain strong communication and teamwork with all hotel departments, coordinating with Front Office, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage for room readiness and special event cleaning schedules.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Wear appropriate clothing/uniform/PPE for cleaning tasks.
- Inspect furniture for dust, debris, damage, or stains; clean, remove, or report issues to supervisor.
- Dust and clean picture frames, mirrors, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs, air vents, windows, baseboards, corners, ledges, phones, drapes, doors, planters, lamps, light fixtures, and switches.
- Polish all brass surfaces to a high gloss.
- Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property; turn in lost and found items to supervisor.
- Install cleaned or new drapes, set up cribs and rollaway beds, and transport them to designated rooms; rotate mattresses and box springs per schedule.
- Maintain storage closet inventory of cleaning supplies, linens, and equipment; requisition low-inventory supplies and submit to supervisor.
- Drive company vehicle to and from storage and laundry facilities to gather and deliver linen and supplies.
- Review and prioritize assignment checklists to ensure completion of all duties before ending the shift.
- Maintain personal appearance and hygiene standards to reflect a professional image for guests.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in a similar role with an understanding of luxury hotel service standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- Valid, unrestricted, and insurable Florida Driver’s License in good standing.
- Ability to comprehend, read, write, and speak basic English, including workplace policies, job instructions, and safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with guests and hotel staff.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capability to access and navigate all hotel departments and facilities.
- Physical ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, crawl, and handle objects/equipment; push, pull, grasp, lift, or carry items up to 50 lbs.
