Seasonal Laborers

About the role

The City of Pittsfield is seeking summer Seasonal Laborers for several City departments. The responsibilities may include but are not limited to: cleaning and other janitorial duties, maintenance and care of City-owned buildings and property. Operate equipment such as, mowers, blowers, chippers, compacters, weed whackers, pavement/ground breakers, drills, saws and hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City.
• Frequent periods of outside work may be entailed, subject to all weather conditions and extremes.
• Physical Requirements: Ability and agility to climb ladders and physical labor such as digging holes, walk long distances over uneven terrain; lift fifty (50) pounds from the ground level to chest height in standing position; and work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Valid Class D driver’s license preferred
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to handle and operate tools and equipment as required
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to deal efficiently and effectively with the public and other employees.

Benefits

This is a non-benefited position.

Pay

Starting rate $21.54 per hour. Annual increases up to $29.82 per hour.

Schedule

40 hours per week. 7:00am – 3:30pm, M-F
