About the role
The role supports Mennel's tradition of excellence since 1886, focusing on food safety and quality control. The primary responsibility is to assist in maintaining and improving these standards through daily lab testing and supporting quality assurance programs.
Responsibilities
- Follow food and personal safety rules and regulations, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, and the Global Food Safety Initiative.
- Maintain the department/facility in an audit-ready condition.
- Perform chemical and analytical procedures related to flour and wheat quality control.
- Support the implementation of a laboratory quality assurance program, including instrumentation maintenance and calibration.
- Participate in laboratory and plant safety programs.
- Support Quality and Food Safety Management programs as needed.
- Support the QC department in computer software implementation and use.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Computer and communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions, memos, procedures, and plans.
- Ability to write, complete checklists, and other basic documentation and correspondence.
- Ability to present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Solid judgment when making decisions.
- Ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.
- Physical demands: regular standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, or crawling; lifting up to 50 pounds; use of hands and arms; use of hearing protection; exposure to common wheat allergens.
