Position Overview The National Western Stock Show thrives on the dedication and commitment of seasonal staff who help to ensure the success of our annual event. As a seasonal HR Assistant, you will play an essential role in recruiting, onboarding, and managing 500+ seasonal employees. You’ll assist with completing new-hire paperwork, answering staff questions, and ensuring all employee files are accurate and compliant. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, has a passion for people, and can manage multiple priorities with ease. Reports to: Director of Human Resources Roles & Responsibilities Assists with the recruitment process for seasonal employees, including posting job openings and coordinating interviews.Supports the onboarding process by preparing new-hire paperwork, ensuring timely completion, and collecting necessary documentation. Responds to inquiries from staff regarding employment details, onboarding, and general HR-related questions. Audits new hire files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with organizational policies and state regulations. Assists with the setup and maintenance of employee records, both digital and physical. Provides administrative support to the HR team, including scheduling, filing, and data entry as needed. Requirements Ideal Candidate Organized: You have an eye for detail and can efficiently manage and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Communication Skills: You’re approachable, responsive, and able to answer staff questions clearly and effectively. HR Enthusiast: You’re passionate about the HR field and excited to learn and support key HR functions during a high-demand season. Adaptable: You can adjust to changing priorities and processes, and you work well under pressure. Team Player: You collaborate effectively with HR colleagues and other departments to ensure seamless hiring and onboarding. Qualifications Previous experience in human resources or administrative support is highly preferred.Familiarity with HR practices and processes is a plus.Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism. Scheduling Requirements This position will work 4-5 days (Monday-Friday) per week starting October 1 - November 30. Normal business hours are 9:00-4:30.The position will then work 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) from November 30 - January 1. The office is closed for Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.Starting January 4, this position will work 6-7 days per week (sometimes up to 10-12 hours a day) until January 24, to support the National Western Stock Show. Seasonal Position: This is a temporary seasonal position starting 10/01/2026, with an anticipated end date of 02/05/2027. Employment may end earlier or be extended based on operational needs. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises. Compensation & Benefits This is a seasonal, hourly position with a pay rate of $24.00-$25.00 per hour based on experience.Paid sick time offered at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
