About the role

Join Wyoming State Parks for a summer of adventure and teamwork in beautiful Guernsey State Park. The park is seeking enthusiastic staff to fill positions in maintenance, visitor services in fee booths, and the museum.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service.
  • Answer visitor questions and provide information about the site, including interpretation and orientation of facilities and local points of interest.
  • Collect admission fees and monetary transactions, including fee collection and gift shop sales.
  • Restock gift shop shelves and track inventory.
  • Answer a multi-line telephone system, transferring calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Aid with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, as well as cleaning, janitorial services, and light maintenance as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and events at all North Platte District sites.
  • Perform routine building, grounds, and landscape maintenance, minor carpentry repairs, painting, and mowing.
  • Assist staff in the construction, installation, maintenance, and renovation of grounds and buildings, and in preventive maintenance.
  • Clean and service restrooms, shelters, and buildings, and remove litter from grounds, parking lots, and other public areas.
  • Operate and/or drive a variety of vehicles, including light and heavy equipment.
  • Operate various maintenance equipment, including mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, and other equipment required in daily operations.
  • Utilize various hand and power tools.
  • Follow proper handling and safety procedures regarding cleaning chemicals and fuel products encountered in daily operations, including proper Personal Protective Equipment usage.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • May interact with the visiting public, answering basic questions.
  • Aid with recordkeeping, reports, and data entry.

Qualifications

  • Possess strong customer service skills.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Have knowledge of detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in completing assignments/tasks.
  • Have good interpersonal skills, allowing the ability to interact with visitors from around the world.
  • Be willing to work on a variety of assignments every day.
  • Have experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Have basic construction and maintenance knowledge.
  • Have basic operational knowledge of light and heavy equipment use, as well as hand and power tools.
  • Have basic safety awareness of equipment use.

Pay

Seasonal positions are non-exempt and pay varies based on the type of position and the number of hours worked.

Schedule

Seasonal positions typically work from mid-May to mid-September, with some positions starting earlier in the year and extending into the fall. Hours vary depending on the work location and job performed.
