Seasonal Custodial Attendant, Third Shift

About the role

Third shift position focused on daily maintenance of public restroom facilities and support for zoo operations, including special events and visitor assistance.

Responsibilities

• Clean mirrors, sinks, toilets, floors (mopping, sweeping), walls, doors, and empty trash receptacles in public restrooms.
• Replenish supplies and maintain cleanliness of grounds outside public restrooms.
• Assist with room setup and cleanup for meetings and special events.
• Perform grounds keeping duties as needed.
• Assist visitors by providing directions to exhibits, answering questions, and aiding in emergency situations.
• Support and assist with special events such as Wildlights and Zoofari.
• Ensure safety of self, staff, animals, and guests through compliance with safety training, standard operating procedures, and proper equipment operation.
• Assist other facilities staff when required.
• Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• New-hire TB testing required.
• Ability to plan and organize work efficiently and cost-effectively without direct supervision.
• Able to work in varied weather conditions (e.g., extreme heat, rain).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all zoo team members.
• Adherence to standard operating procedures, including safety protocols.
• Positive attitude with a commitment to excellent service and guest service standards.
• Ability to maintain appropriate employee appearance (see uniform guidelines in the employee handbook).
• Availability on weekends and holidays is mandatory.
• Subject to BMV check, Drug-Free Workplace Policy, and criminal background check.

Pay

$16 per hour.

Schedule

Third shift. Posted schedule may be subject to change based on operational needs such as weather conditions, guest attendance, and department requirements.
