Seasonal Concession Supervisor

Summary

Schedule, train and supervise concession staff and cashiers for the efficient, effective and safe operation of a waterpark while providing quality customer service to customers. Position requires availability on weekdays during the Spring and 7 days a week during the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently supervise and operate a concession facility in accordance with the standard practices of retail operation.
  • Courteously and professionally provide guests with supplies, refreshments, and various confectionary items in demand; take reservations, receive payments and sell sundry items to patrons.
  • Provide for the cleanliness, maintenance, and inventory of all equipment used; and supervise and maintain necessary licenses, permits, and code requirements.
  • Manage storeroom/stockroom activities and receive and account for all merchandise handled at the facility; manage inventory control such as inventory cards, a perpetual inventory record, maintaining stock levels, and end of the month inventories.
  • Manage vending machine program including ensuring security of vending machines, ordering of product, loading machines, retrieving money from machines, handling customer complaints and refunds, and accounting for all product and money involved on a regular or as needed basis.
  • Maintain accurate sales and cash receipt records; maintain simple cash and sales records and prepare revenue reports.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise the work of assigned concession attendants in a manner conducive to work schedules which are adequate to meet fluctuations in park attendance; report on the work performance of assigned personnel.
  • Recognize products and services which would satisfy the needs of the various types of patrons and increase sale revenue; advise administrative staff on ways and means of improving service and increasing revenue production; recommend the purchase of commodities required and vendors to supply them.
  • In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Three (3) years' experience in point-of-sale systems, cash management, food and concession management or related experience, with one (1) year experience working in a supervisor capacity.
  • Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

Skills

  • Knowledge of operational, safety and maintenance requirements for concession operations and amenities.
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of water safety practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic laws, rules and regulations relating to the use of concession operations and amenities.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of a supervisor and organizational behavior.
  • Ability to implement rules and regulations relating to pool and aquatic facility; and to exercise tact, firmness and good judgment in enforcing such rules and regulations.
  • Ability to prevent dangerous situations from arising, to recognize emergencies and to take effective action.
  • Ability to correctly count money and make proper change; while making simple arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to operate the Point of sale system efficiently and effectively while offering quality customer service in processing customer transactions.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain written and oral reports.
  • Ability to make standard decisions in accordance with procedures and regulations and to apply these to work problems.

Certifications

  • Must possess a Current Food Service Managers Certification
  • Must possess a First Aid and CPR certification from an accredited institution.

Physical Demands

  • Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)
  • Acceptable hearing (with or without correction)
  • Position may require to perform stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials involving physical effort (20 - 100 pounds).
  • Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and other related office equipment as necessary.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
  • Involves frequent interaction with people.
  • May require attendance at night meetings and/or outdoor meetings.
