Seasonal Community Donations Coordinator

We are a grassroots, donor, and volunteer-fueled community nonprofit serving families in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, and Hernando counties with compassion, practical help, and a commitment to making a significant difference.
About the role
The Community Donations Coordinator cultivates and stewards donors to build the pipeline of in-kind and financial support for Metropolitan Ministries. This temporary, full-time role requires extensive public contact, strong organizational skills, and a high degree of discretion with confidential and sensitive issues.
Responsibilities
- Community Engagement & Hospitality
- Provide exceptional hospitality and customer service to donors, volunteers, community groups, and partners.
- Coordinate scheduling, communications, and support for donation drives, volunteer activities, and holiday initiatives to ensure a positive experience.
- Donor & Volunteer Experience
- Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries and engagement opportunities.
- Build and strengthen relationships through timely communication, stewardship, appreciation efforts, and follow-up to encourage continued involvement and support.
- Data Entry & Record Management
- Maintain accurate donor, volunteer, and community partner records within Virtuous and other tracking systems.
- Document interactions, update constituent information, track activities, and assist with reporting and data management.
- Administrative & Operational Support
- Provide administrative support for community engagement, donor experience, and holiday operations, including scheduling, correspondence, preparation of materials, organization of files, and special projects.

- Demonstrate a passion for the mission of Metropolitan Ministries while working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Requirements
- Minimum Associate’s degree or commensurate experience in customer service, relationship-building, or a relevant field.
- Minimum 1 year of successful nonprofit or development experience.
- Friendly, customer service, telephone, or outbound sales experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business software, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook), web-based research tools, and CRM databases.
- Attention to detail and 1–2 years of proven experience in a related field.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework.
- Heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals.
- Understanding of poverty, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.
- Knowledge of community resources available to the homeless population.
- Maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Physically able to work in outdoor/temporary shelter environments considering local climate fluctuations.
- Physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.
Pay
$18.00 per hour
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM.
- Assignment duration: September 14, 2026 – December 24, 2026.
- Flexible work schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holiday months (October–December).
Must pass applicable pre-employment screening and demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States.
