About Our Property

The Phelps, located in the historic Phelps Building in the heart of Cincinnati, was named the #1 hotel in the city. Unique among extended-stay hotels in Cincinnati, we feature boutique accommodations and a rooftop restaurant and terrace. The property boasts 134 guest rooms and 5,039 sq ft of event space. Responsibilities

• Greet guests as they arrive or move about the bar area
• Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar daily
• Guide guests on their beverage journey through descriptive selling of the menu
• Be accurate in order taking, confirming all special requests
• Master the bar details to enhance guest conversations
• Work collaboratively with restaurant servers and kitchen/bar staff
• Assist guests with concerns to ensure a positive resolution
• Finalize the guest experience through timely and accurate bill presentation
• Requisition and stock all beer, wine, spirits
• Maintain stock, cut, and store all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality
• Mix, garnish, and present drinks following standard ingredient recipes and practice portion control
• Input orders into a register at the point of sale and create a check for each guest
• Lock up and store all beverages, food, and other equipment items; deposit cash drops and secure bank

Requirements

• Engaging and welcoming personality
• Current bartender’s certification or appropriate license
• Knowledgeable in the latest trends around mixology
• Descriptive and persuasive selling skills
• 2-4 years of bartender experience
• Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
• Excellent communication skills
