As a leading employer on the Outer Banks for over 40 years, Kitty Hawk Kites is seeking an experienced, energetic Seasonal Assistant Retail Store Manager for the Duck location. This position runs from April through September 2026.

Responsibilities

• Operate within the KHK Inc. core values, mission, and purpose statement
• Careful selection and training of staff
• Maintaining correct amount of staff during various seasons and holidays
• Attending appropriate company
• Supervision of staff
• Maintaining the store’s clean, safe, and attractive environment
• Accurately preparing staff schedules
• Accurately preparing opening & closing reports
• Accurately preparing payroll reports
• Accurately preparing sales documentation and reports
• Accurately preparing marketing reports
• Accurately preparing budget projections
• Accurately preparing transfer forms and packing slips
• Supervising merchandising
• Maintaining stock levels – checking if items are back‑stocked or available from another store
• Ensuring money is deposited daily
• Keeping up with maintenance needs and ensuring the store is kept up and taken care of
• Assisting the buyer with feedback and current trends

Requirements

Most work is indoors in a climate‑controlled environment, with occasional outdoor work exposing employees to natural elements. Noise level is moderate.

Physical requirements: About one‑third of time is spent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. One‑third to two‑thirds of time is spent standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. Employees must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Additional physical demands include continuous computer work, cash register work, sales floor work, events work, and mail order work.
