About the Role
We are opening a brand new store at the Carolina Premium Outlets in Smithfield, NC in mid-September and are hiring for multiple positions, including Seamstress/Tailor. This role supports our mission to create the most enjoyable shopping experience for our Guests by performing alterations and operational tasks in-store.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality alterations on merchandise at the store location, following ticket instructions and Guest specifications.
- Accommodate Guests with on-the-spot alterations when requested by Store Leaders.
- Meet deadlines and Guest expectations for merchandise alterations.
- Use Buckle-provided sewing machine and supplies to perform alterations.
- Measure and mark alteration lines; pin altering folds or mark on cloth at seam.
- Remove stitches from garments using a ripper or razor blade.
- Resew merchandise using needle and thread or sewing machine.
- Press merchandise using a hand iron or steamer.
- Repair defective merchandise and remove spots or stains.
- Record all work and maintain the alteration log; follow through on alteration instructions.
- Uphold productivity guidelines, generally four jean alterations per hour.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked work area; inform Leaders when supplies are needed.
- Communicate policy violations to Store Manager, District Manager, and/or Human Resources.
- Provide feedback to Store Management regarding merchandise handling concerns.
- Adhere to Buckle’s Code of Ethics and all company policies, procedures, and handbook.
- Contribute to a positive team spirit while delivering high levels of customer service.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months of sewing, fitting, and alteration experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays (e.g., day of/day after Thanksgiving and Christmas).
- Open to feedback regarding work that may need to be redone.
- Hours may fluctuate seasonally based on business needs.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to walk; climb or balance; jump; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to sit.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 25 lbs throughout the store and backroom.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The role is performed in a retail store setting with a moderate noise level.
