About the Role

We are seeking a manager to join our team at Weis Markets, a company that values respect, understanding, and appreciation for its associates, as well as teamwork and growth. The manager will play a crucial role in promoting excellent customer relations, driving sales, and ensuring the smooth operation of the seafood department.

Responsibilities

  • Promote excellent customer relations by instilling positive customer-focused behavior with associates.
  • Take customer orders over the phone or in person, determine customer needs, and create finished products in a timely fashion.
  • Manage inventory levels, review orders, and maintain backroom organization to ensure product availability.
  • Oversee shelf replenishment efforts, prioritizing weekly specials, seasonal items, and high-velocity products.
  • Schedule, train, and recognize seafood associates, and participate in performance reviews and new hire interviews.
  • Develop and implement localized merchandising plans, create displays, and coordinate with other departments for cross-merchandising.
  • Monitor competitor activity, prepare inventory records, and control department expenses.
  • Ensure product quality, freshness, and proper rotation, and handle spoiled or damaged products according to procedures.
  • Maintain a well-stocked and appealing seafood area, provide customer assistance, and resolve concerns promptly.
  • Set up displays, rotate products, and ensure proper pricing and signage.
  • Weigh and wrap merchandise, maintain logs, and adhere to food and personal safety codes.
  • Maintain backroom and receiving area security, organization, and sanitation, following 5S procedures and cleaning schedules.
  • Cooperate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure smooth department and store operations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in business or food service-related field desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience in a retail, restaurant, or supermarket environment.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of seafood products, merchandising, and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
