About the Role
The Maintenance Specialist (HVAC Mechanic) performs maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial or institutional settings. The ideal candidate will independently diagnose and repair HVAC and boiler systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate, repair, and replace components on all HVAC systems.
- Inspect and perform recurring preventative maintenance on direct or indirect expansion air conditioning systems, evaporative units, and associated equipment (e.g., air handlers, fan coils, ducting, electric and pneumatic controls, chilled water systems).
- Perform periodic inspections and follow outage reporting procedures for air conditioning units supporting critical facilities.
- Inspect, operate, repair, replace components of, and perform preventative maintenance on gas and oil-fired hot water boilers, forced air furnaces, and associated heating system components.
- Maintain, repair, and replace air compressors and associated components, including distribution piping and pneumatic control air regulation.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspection, operation, repair, and maintenance on ice machines and associated components, including incoming water lines and RO units.
- Monitor and maintain tanks with government-supplied diesel fuel and propane tanks for hot water boilers and forced air furnaces.
- Install electrical components and wiring.
- Inspect and test HVACR systems and components.
- Discuss system malfunctions with customers.
- Repair or replace worn or defective parts.
- Recommend maintenance to improve system performance.
- Maintain records of work performed.
- Follow all industry regulations.
- Work collaboratively with clients, customers, and team members to ensure contract success.
- Work independently, analyze situations, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience.
- Previous military or government logistics experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to maintain a government security clearance.
- Ability to pass background and drug screening.

Working Environment
This is an on-site, fast-paced, multi-tasking, customer service-oriented role requiring efficient and effective performance. Adaptability to schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate shifting priorities. The position is typically 5 days a week (Monday–Friday), but weekends and after-hours support may be required.
