About the role

The Viya Host Systems team is seeking a talented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to support the foundational code that enables SAS products to interface with various host operating systems and cloud storage providers.

Responsibilities

• Validate the quality of software by ensuring new code additions do not introduce regressions or performance degradations.
• Create and maintain automated test suites and enhance test coverage as needed.
• Collaborate with development, product, devOps, and technical support to ensure quality is a key design element.
• Assist with providing high code coverage through the addition of new tests.
• Quickly triage test failures with precision and accuracy, maintaining the health of the build pipeline.
• Protect users from defects, participate in support escalations, and prioritize Customer Experience (CX).
• Ensure adherence to security policies and processes to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years experience testing software and writing/automating tests.
• C programming skills and/or SAS coding experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and familiarity with multiple scripting languages.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proven track record of delivering complex projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in Python and familiarity with multiple scripting languages.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs.
• Experience with API testing using C programming.
• Experience with SonarQube.
• Experience using Git or GitHub for source code management and code review.
• Experience with container and container orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Good understanding of CI/CD practices.
• Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with Agile SDLC practices.
