Scrub Technologist (PRN)

About the role

The position is under the direction of the Surgery Nurse Director. The primary responsibility is to provide direct patient care by assisting the Physician/Surgeon and Charge Nurse with patients. Duties include assisting surgeons during invasive and non-invasive procedures, anticipating surgeon's needs, and handing surgical instruments to the surgeon. The certified scrub tech also prepares and organizes the operating room, cleans and sterilizes equipment, and maintains a sterile surgical environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Physician/Surgeon and Charge Nurse with patient care
• Anticipate surgeon’s needs and hand surgical instruments to the surgeon
• Prepare and organize the operating room
• Clean and sterilize equipment
• Maintain a sterile surgical environment
• Communicate with Charge Nurse and staff about patient’s condition
• Respond quickly to requests for assistance when changes occur in patient care

Requirements

• Verifiable completion of an accredited program in surgical technology
• Current Texas C.S.T. Certificate preferred
