Scrub Technician II, Labor and Delivery
About the role
The OR Scrub Technician is accountable for the technical functions related to the patient's perioperative experience. The functions of this role include preparing the OR environment, and equipment, instrumentation and supply utilization. He / she is responsible to the circulating RN and works in concert with the philosophy and goals of the department.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room environment, equipment, instrumentation and supplies according to established protocols.
- Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures, ensuring sterility and adherence to aseptic technique.
- Manage instrument sets, ensuring proper sterilization and availability for each case.
- Collaborate with the circulating nurse and anesthesia team to ensure smooth transition between preoperative and postoperative phases.
- Ensure compliance with infection control guidelines and safety protocols.
- Participate in ongoing education and training programs to maintain competency in surgical technology.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Three years of scrub experience is required.
- Certified Surgical Technologist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required.
- Certification in Surgical Technology required.
- BLS certification is required.
