Scribe
About the role
A scribe who excels in this role accompanies physicians into the patient examination room to transcribe a history and physical exam, and documents accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician. Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc. Documents any procedures performed by the physician. Is responsible for entering attestation, signing, and dating all records at the time of service.
Responsibilities
- Accompanies physicians into the patient examination room in order to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician's encounter with the patient and others present.
- List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
- Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc.
- Documents any procedures performed by the physician.
- Enters attestation, signs, and dates all records at the time of service.
Requirements
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- High School diploma required.
- CMA License Required or CCMA required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
Qualifications
- Will consider Healthcare students enrolled in a program such as medical student/physician assistant student/or nursing student.
- Must be able to meet the requirements for clinic hours of operation.
- Minimum 6 months experience as a Medical Scribe, or 6 months related experience and/or training.
- Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.
