Responsibilities

• Safely operate the screed to level asphalt or concrete to the specified depth, grade, and surface quality
• Read grade stakes and work with grade checkers, lasers, or GPS systems to maintain correct grade and alignment
• Work closely with crew members using hand signals and verbal communication to coordinate work and maintain safe operations
• Keep equipment clean, organized, and prepared for transport when needed
• Perform daily inspections, lubrication, fluid checks, and basic maintenance to ensure the screed remains in safe working condition
• Notify mechanics when additional maintenance or repairs are required
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe jobsite environment
• Follow supervisor instructions and complete tasks with accuracy and attention to detail

Requirements

• Individuals who work safely and have the courage to speak up when unsafe behavior or conditions arise
• Strong understanding of basic safety requirements, PPE standards, and OSHA/MSHA considerations
• Ability to follow directions, work in a team environment, and communicate effectively
• Mechanical aptitude for routine equipment maintenance
• Strong work ethic and reliability in fast-paced field environments
• Willingness to travel as needed and work long or irregular hours during the construction season
• A commitment to high-quality work and an unwavering focus on safety
