Screed Operator
About the role
Hinkle Contracting, LLC, a CRH company, seeks a Screed Operator to join our team. Hinkle operates one of Kentucky's most extensive networks of state-of-the-art asphalt paving and production supply facilities. Responsibilities
- Operate screed on asphalt paver
- Makes normal operating adjustments for obtaining proper depth, grade and finished cross section
- May perform other related duties to include adding or removing screed extensions
- May occasionally operate paving equipment such as power broom, plate compactor, paving machine, shuttle buggy and/or vibratory roller
- Maintain, oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment
- Perform miscellaneous duties including equipment maintenance, assisting foreperson and/or crew members as needed
Requirements
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical
- Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document
- Maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements
- Have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards
- Willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
- Be able to physically stand long periods of time
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- 2 Year experience as a screed operator preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Pay
Highly competitive base pay
Schedule
Requires regular lifting of 25 pounds, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Uses tools such as shovel, hand/motorized tamp. Walking and standing each occupy 50% of the work day. Overtime work is required. May be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather. Requires riding to and from job sites.
