Scoring Support Specialist - Multiple Locations

Work Type: Full Time-Seasonal, non-exempt
Location: Remote within Region- US (Gainesville, FL; Louisville, KY; Baltimore, MD; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ)
Travel Requirement: Event travel and attendance at staff meetings/trainings is required, including overnight stays. Availability to work 3-4 weekends per month from October through May.
About the Role
The Scoring Support Specialist reports to the National Scoring Director and is an important member of the Varsity All Star Scoring team. This role is responsible for answering judges and customer scoring questions before, during, and after Varsity All Star events. The Scoring Support Specialist will represent Varsity Brands by demonstrating company core values and driving the highest ethical standards of conduct in all business activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with staffing judges at Varsity All Star events in their region using Salesforce/UKGWorks, ensuring the proper number of judging panels are supplied for each event.
- Assist the Judge Operations Specialist (JOS) to confirm judges for Varsity All Star events, including securing travel arrangements.
- Follow up with judges post-event who need additional training based on knowledge-based issues.
- Play a supporting role in Judges Training/Curriculum.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Varsity All Star judges.
- Assist with managing travel for all judge staff.
- Assist the Scoring Experience Specialist with all post-event scoring concerns.
- Follow up with AccuScore Officials post-event to identify frequently asked questions needing additional training for coaches and/or judges.
- Work with the Scoring Experience Specialist to provide additional training to judges as needed.
- Inform the National Scoring Director of any major scoring issues that affected rankings/bids at events.
- Work with the JOS to verify judge timesheets and compliance/training completion.
- Serve in a support role at events, including working end-of-season events in a scoring capacity.
- Must be available to work in-person at major events, including but not limited to:
- “Select” World Bid Events (based on event participation)
- U.S. Finals (based on event participation)
- Regional Summit (based on event participation)
- Youth Summit, Summit, or D2 Summit Qualifiers
Requirements
- Fluent in the current scoring system.
- Strong familiarity with productivity tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong fluency in Microsoft Excel and Google Forms.
- High level of customer service acumen.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills to handle unexpected customer issues effectively.
- Experience in and knowledge of current and previous scoring systems.
- Experience in the cheer and dance industry is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- While not participating in an event, this role operates in a professional office environment. Largely sedentary with some filing, requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods during meetings and while operating office equipment, PCs, laptops, and telephones.
- During events, the ability to stand and walk for long periods (5+ hours) is required.
- Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues using radio, walkie-talkie, text message, and email.
- Ability to lift, bend, push, pull, and manipulate equipment weighing a minimum of 30 lbs.
Pay
$20 an hour. Pay rate may vary based on criteria such as education, experience, qualifications, location, internal equity, and market alignment.
