Scientist I, Standardized Organoid Modeling Lab
About the role
The Scientist I, Standardized Organoid Modeling Lab, is responsible for designing CRISPR-mediated experiments including gene knockouts, knock-ins, and custom targeted libraries, applying these to organoids and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). They interface with collaborating investigators, assist in project management, and contribute to manuscript preparation.
Responsibilities
- Designing CRISPR-mediated experiments
- Interfacing with SOM center collaborators
- Assisting with project management
- Performing CRISPR-mediated experiments in organoids and other 3D culture models
- Illumina-based targeted amplicon sequencing
- Cloning plasmid constructs when needed
- Contributing to manuscripts from projects led by the GMC and those supported by the GMC
Qualifications
- Possession of a PhD or MD degree from an accredited institution
- No work experience required with a PhD
- Expertise in generating, culturing, and maintaining organoids
- Expertise in computer-based data acquisition, management, and analysis
- Ability to plan, conduct, troubleshoot, and optimize scientific experiments
- Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to prepare comprehensive project documentation
- Significant research accomplishments, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals, meeting presentations, and other scientific achievements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

- Expertise in CRISPR/Cas9 technology and general molecular biology
- Software programming and development in Python
- Experience with high-performance computing platforms
