Scientist I, Protein Purification & Expression

Responsibilities

• Maintain insect cell and mammalian cell cultures.
• Proficient in all steps of baculovirus expression, including clone design, bacmid generation, virus titering, MOI studies, and biomass harvesting from 1 L to 20 L scale.
• Characterize recombinant proteins using SDS-PAGE, size exclusion chromatography, and thermal stability assays.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with insect cell lines and baculovirus expression of recombinant proteins, with additional experience in mammalian cell systems a plus.
• Industry experience preferred with proven ability to express milligram quantities of protein for structural and functional studies.
• Dynamic work environment experience, prioritizing tasks across multiple projects.
• Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping skills.
• Past experience with recombinant protein purification techniques (affinity chromatography, ion exchange, size exclusion chromatography).
• Able to lift 50+ pounds comfortably.

Qualifications

This position requires 2+ years of experience working with insect cell lines and baculovirus expression of recombinant proteins. Additional experience working with recombinant protein expression in mammalian cells (e.g. HEK293) is a plus. Industry experience preferred with exemplified ability to overexpress milligram amounts of protein for structural and functional studies for multiple protein classes.
