Position Summary This Scientist I will work with a cross-functional team to ensure the timely evaluation, qualification, and implementation of second-source materials, suppliers, and related scientific solutions that support business continuity, product quality, regulatory compliance, and Customer requirements. This role designs and executes laboratory studies, analyzes technical data, supports troubleshooting and validation activities, and partners with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, and external suppliers to advance assigned projects from assessment through implementation. What You'll Do As a Scientist I Demonstrates good understanding of STERIS scientific technologies and sterilization science.Carrying out test plans/experiments for assigned projects with supervisor or management input, to include the recording, analysis, and scientific evaluation of experimental data.Performs analyses and resolves issues using good problem-solving techniques.Demonstrates excellent laboratory techniqueOperates and maintains instrumentation, defines and measures quality metrics and reports results in an appropriate manner.Participates on project teams and establishes good working relationships within STERIS Corporation.Participates in refining current techniques, troubleshooting problems and documenting processes, procedures and results. The Experience, Abilities And Skills Needed Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry is required. Advanced degree in applicable area is desirable.3+ years of related laboratory experience. Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment.Ability to read and interpret SDS files and safely handle organic and inorganic chemicals.Maintain knowledge of FDA and EPA requirements for method validation and stabilityPractical working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).Performs scientific literature searches and evaluations.Prepares and presents data at internal or external meetings, as requested.Independently operate various. standard instruments and perform basic maintenance according to established methodsComplies with established procedures and within regulatory and laboratory requirements.Demonstrates proficient writing skills for the following:SOPs and their revisionsTest plans/protocols and recognizing when modifications are needed Laboratory reportsOOS reports What STERIS Offers At STERIS, we invest in our employees and their families for the long term! This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.
