About the role
The Division of Plant Science seeks a motivated Research Scientist with experience in plant molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics to study lignin biosynthesis and plant cell wall biology.
Responsibilities
- Conduct molecular cloning, plant transformation, gene editing, protein expression, biochemical assays, and metabolite analyses using techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, and GC-MS.
- Design and execute experiments to investigate plant cell wall biology and lignin metabolism.
- Analyze data and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Present research findings at scientific conferences.
Requirements
- Experience with plant transformation, lignin or phenylpropanoid metabolism, and strong communication and teamwork skills are highly desirable.
- This temporary position is expected to end around December 31, 2026.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Plant Sciences, or a closely related field is preferred.
- Experience with plant transformation, gene editing, lignin or phenylpropanoid metabolism, and analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, or GC-MS is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills are highly desired.

Pay
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,976.00 - $76,024.00 annually.
