Description
Join a team focused on developing advanced automation systems for mass spectrometry, specifically supporting biotherapeutics cell line development. This role blends hands-on robotic work, method development, sample preparation, and data analysis, with the primary goal of optimizing protein expression and quality through innovative automation. You will contribute to the construction and improvement of high-throughput workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and validate robotic runs, monitor performance, document deviations, and drive corrective actions.
- Develop and implement mass spectrometry assays to optimize protein expression, quality, and quantitation for biotherapeutics.
- Ensure experimental accuracy and success using expertise in sample preparation.
- Deploy, optimize, maintain, and improve high-throughput workflows with liquid-handling robots and integrated automation workcells.
- Analyze antibodies using peptide mapping, intact mass analysis, native mass spectrometry, and acoustic ejection MS.
- Troubleshoot equipment by collaborating with internal and external experts to perform root cause analysis.
- Prepare and present scientific findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders, project teams, and senior management.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 0–2 years with a Master’s or PhD. If the academical degree is Computer Science, with wet lab exposure, 2+ years of experience is required.
- Previous hands-on protocol execution, pipetting, and protein sample handling experience.
- Strong organizational, time management, and written/verbal interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently, creatively solve problems, and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience collaborating closely with scientists, vendors, and end users across varying seniority levels.
- Initial-level Python programming or willingness to learn is required.
- Core strengths must include: Mass Spectrometry, Wet Lab Experience, and Programming with Python (or openness to learn).
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Mass spectrometry experience (automation exposure is less critical; willingness to learn automation and coding is valued).
- Method development in automation work cells.
- Experience in programming automated workflows, preferably in a laboratory environment.
- Independent problem solver, good communication skills.
- Execution focused mindset.
