About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Scientist 3 to join the Department of Antibody Engineering within Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and characterization of next-generation antibody therapeutics, supporting both pipeline projects and advanced technology development.
  • Engineer and experimentally characterize novel antibody formats.
  • Analyze high-quality data to inform critical project decisions.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to move projects forward.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Structural Biology, or Chemical Biology.
  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques as well as protein characterization/engineering.
  • Proven experience in antibody engineering or drug development is not required, but the position offers an excellent environment to develop these skills.
  • Self-driven individual with proactive, resourceful, and organized personality.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to learn new techniques and problem-solve.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with yeast, phage, or mammalian display platforms is preferred.
  • Proficiency in cell culture, flow cytometry, and in vitro screening assays.

Benefits

Relocation benefits are available for this posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $103,400 - $192,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
