The Position Scientist 2, T Cell Therapy The Opportunity We have an opening for a talented Scientist 2 to join our Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology Department within Genentech’s Research and Early Development (gRED) organization. The successful candidate will support in vitro screening & functional characterization of CAR-T and antibody therapeutics for oncology and immunology disease areas, by participating in the development, validation and execution of high-throughput cell-based assays to characterize CAR-T cell and antibody activity in vitro and support lead-finding/optimization efforts. In addition, the candidate will function as part of a multi-disciplinary project team that will coordinate with Oncology, Immunology, Cell Therapy, Antibody Engineering, and Protein Chemistry groups to advance T cell therapies. The candidate will have the opportunity to present their work to project teams and senior management and is expected to contribute to publications and present at scientific conferences. This position is based in South San Francisco, on site. Who You Are (Required) B.S. degree with 1-5 years of experience in Immunology, Oncology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field OR M.S. degree with 1-3 years of relevant immunology/immuno-oncology and/or cell biology experience in academia, biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry.Practical experience in the design, development, validation and execution of cell-based assays.Experience with flow cytometry, immune cell-based functional assays, primary immune cell isolation and culture, and CAR-T cell generation.Ability to work independently to design, execute, and interpret experiments, and also collaborate with project teams.Record of publications that demonstrates expertise.Excellent teamwork, communication, time management, and organizational skills. Additional Preferred Skills A strong foundation in immunology and hands-on expertise in immune cell assays. Familiarity with iPSC derived immune cells is a plus. Experience with Luminex, Incucyte, and/or xCELLigence. Familiarity with automated or semi-automated instrumentation. Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. The expected salary range for this position based on California is 87 000,00 - 161 600,00 USD Annual Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
