School Support Associate - Lead Parent Advisor

The Lead Parent Advisor provides for statewide parent training services and in-home parent education through parent advisors to parents of children with vision impairment/blindness with or without concomitant disabilities (birth – 5).

About the role

This position will be located at Missouri School for the Blind, 3815 Magnolia Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise, and support MoSPIN parent advisors
• Continually disseminate information about MoSPIN program to increase families in MoSPIN
• Collaborate with Part C and Part B programs for early identification, family support services, and transitioning
• Present to potential referring agencies regarding identification, referral and census on a continual basis
• Co-instruction of the INSITE course and all other Outreach trainings
• Attend local and state Interagency Coordinating Council meetings and Office of Childhood meetings
• Aid in the collection of evaluation data on family technical assistance, training, and MoSPIN program surveys
• Provide regular conferences/webinars/virtual meetings and in-person trainings to families
• Help families connect with other families of children who have sensory impairments including family mentoring

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university in special education
• Experience working with young children with disabilities
• Experience working with families
