Responsibilities
- Provide security to campuses, conduct necessary drills, respond to emergency situations, and take appropriate action in accordance with established guidelines.
- Assist school administration and law enforcement with threat assessments.
- Conduct campus walkthroughs and safety checks.
- Be a uniformed school employee located at their assigned campus location.
- Have access to a firearm on campus.
- Not work with student discipline nor have any law enforcement authority.
- Undergo background screening, psychological exam, annual drug and alcohol screening, and specialized school safety guard training through the Pasco County Sheriff’s office.
- Attend regular training and re-qualify annually with the Pasco County Sheriff’s office.
- Perform routine daily custodial duties and complete daily maintenance work orders as scheduled.
- Routinely inspect building grounds and advise supervisor of any issues or make corrections.
- Aid in maintaining equipment in good working condition.
- Assemble furniture and perform other minor building repairs as directed by supervisor.
- Paint or touch up of all common areas as needed.
- Ensure all safety precautions and procedures are followed while performing duties.
- Utilize all equipment in a proper, safe, and effective manner.
- Be available for emergency cleanup of spills, bathroom overflows, cleaning of learner-related accidents, garbage removal from meal area, playground area, and around entire campus.
- Maintain records and other maintenance reports as directed by supervisor.
- Meet regularly with direct supervisor to review the status of entire building(s).
- Maintain positive working relationships with school staff.
- Perform all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills.
Requirements
- Pass a background screening, a psych evaluation, an annual drug and alcohol screening, and random drug screens.
- Possess and maintain a valid Florida Concealed Weapons Permit.
- High School Diploma or High School Diploma Equivalent (GED).
- Ability to maintain, fix, and build what is needed for the school campus.
- Be able to perform physical activities such as lifting heavy items (up to 40 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, or walking for extended periods of time.
- Have a valid driver license with a clean driving record.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
