School Registered Nurses (The Schwartz School)

About the role

Meeting Street is a special place of learning, where children of all abilities have the opportunities to reach their fullest potential. We are looking for Registered Nurses to join our team for 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications and performs nursing procedures ordered by the physician to be given during school hours including but not limited to G-Tube feedings, catheterizations, respiratory treatments, dialysis, dressing changes, wound care, trach care and suctioning, etc.
• Performs ongoing health status evaluations and medication/treatment reviews to identify health needs and potential problems.
• Documents all nursing care and changes in a student’s health status.
• Communicates timely updates to families and applicable school staff regarding health concerns or changes in the health status of the student.
• Collaborates with the other disciplines involved in a student’s care, to optimize the student school experience.
• Provides care for students in their classrooms, special activities, and on field trips.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
• Willingness to become licensed as a Registered Nurse in Rhode Island.
• Maintains current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
• Adapts to any medical/technical equipment that is needed to provide health services to our students.

Qualifications

• Be able to sit, stand and walk continuously during the workday.
• Be able to bend/stoop, squat, kneel, grip with whole hand (right, left & both hands), finger pinch items (right, left and both hands).
• Use hand power tools, use a computer, transfer patients, climb stairs, reach above shoulder level (both right, left & both arms).
• Assist in lifting and carrying students as well as transfers from wheelchairs to equipment.

Pay

Salary range: $70,000 to $90,000 annually based on related experience.
