School Psychologist - Intern (2026-27)
About the role
The School Psychologist - Intern position is part of the Student Services Division in Colonial School District. The position is scheduled for the 2026-2027 school year and pays a stipend of $32,000. The position reports to the Principal/Director of Student Services and aims to promote the learning, behavior, and mental health of all students.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and submits required reports within designated timelines.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team and Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings.
- Develops Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs)/Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and assists in creating IEPs for special education students.
- Participates in all relevant professional development activities.
- Promotes positive behavior and mental health.
- Provides direct support and interventions to students, consults with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals.
- Supports diverse student needs by appropriately planning individualized education programs for students with disabilities.
- Provides culturally responsive services to students and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Maintains individual student progress in academics and behavior through data collection and analysis.
- Takes leadership role in the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework within assigned building(s).
- Complies with Federal, State, and Local Regulations and Policies.
- Utilizes all available resources/materials to complete required paperwork, maintain professionalism, and avoid potential violations/noncompliance.
- Monitors individual student progress in academics and behavior through data collection and analysis.
- Collaborates with community providers to coordinate services for students.
Requirements
- Meet State of Delaware certification requirements for School Psychologist.
- Proficient in technology, including use of Q-Interactive.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.
- Show understanding of and ability to perform job-related tasks.
- Absolutely regular attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Pass an acceptable Criminal Background Report and have no entries on Child Abuse Registry in the State of Delaware.
Qualifications
- Applicant must hold a valid School Psychologist certification from the State of Delaware.
- Experience with technology, particularly Q-Interactive.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the NASP practice model.
