Job Summary

The primary responsibility is to oversee the Health Room and supervision and monitoring of students referred for illness which may include the administration of first aid that falls within normal procedures. The incumbent may also be delegated the responsibility for administering medication(s) to appropriate students by the School Nurse (Health Service Specialist "HSS") in compliance with State law and District policy.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor students referred for illness in the Health Room.
  • Administer first aid that falls within normal procedures.
  • May administer medication(s) to appropriate students by the School Nurse (HSS) in compliance with State law and District policy.
  • Perform clerical and secretarial duties as assigned.
  • Support building, department, or administrative staff.
  • Communicate with students, public, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Contribute to keeping the office functioning effectively and efficiently by performing common office procedures such as answering phones, providing information and customer service, word processing or data entry, and maintaining records while maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of job-related education and/or experience.
  • Health care experience or interest preferred.

Qualifications

Although certain recurring tasks or responsibilities may be assigned to certain individuals within an office with multiple support positions, all employees in these positions are expected to contribute to keeping the office functioning effectively and efficiently.

Working Environment

  • Generally requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.
  • Minimal temperature variations, generally hazard-free environment, and in a clean atmosphere.
  • Frequent reaching, handling, fingering, and/or feeling.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
  • Seldom climbing and balancing.
  • Seldom stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.

Education and Experience

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of job-related education and/or experience.
  • Health care experience or interest preferred.

Pay

$31.62 hourly rate (SC8LWESP25-26.pdf)
