About the Role

The School of Social Work seeks applicants for its part-time lecturer pool to teach bachelor’s and master’s level classes in micro practice, macro practice, human behavior in the social environment, research methods, and practicum seminar at the San Bernardino and Palm Desert Campus locations, as well as in the online master’s program. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary, with all appointments being temporary. Staffing decisions are made on a rolling basis, typically beginning a few months prior to the start of an academic term.

Per university policy, instructors in campus-based programs must reside in California.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in micro practice, macro practice, human behavior in the social environment, research methods, and practicum seminar at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching and a commitment to serving diverse student populations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program or a doctoral degree in social work at the time of employment.
• Two years’ post-master’s work experience.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
• Experience working with diverse populations and community partners.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD (for research methods courses).
• LCSW and 5 years’ experience in clinical social work (for micro practice/practicum seminar courses).

Special Conditions

• The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083.
• A background check (including a criminal records check) is required prior to employment. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
• Completion of Sexual Violence Prevention Training within 6 months of assuming employment and on a two-year basis thereafter.
• Filing of a Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis and completion of training within 6 months of assuming office and every 2 years thereafter, if designated under California State University’s Conflict of Interest Code.

Pay

• Lecturer A (Range 2): $5,507 – $6,677
• Lecturer B (Range 3): $6,221 – $13,224
• Lecturer C (Range 4): $6,825 – $14,523
• Lecturer D (Range 5): $8,593 – $15,211
