Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares syllabi each semester, chooses textbooks for courses, and adopts textbooks within the institution's textbook adoption system.
  • Uses the institution’s LMS to facilitate student learning for all modalities of instruction: asynchronous, synchronous, or hybrid.
  • Prepares, administers, and grades assignments, quizzes, tests, and outcome assessments.
  • Participates in course learning outcomes assessment each semester and utilizes the assessment data to improve teaching strategies within courses.
  • Participates in program and curriculum development, proposing program improvements and innovations.
  • Provides one-on-one student guidance and advisement on topics including regular degree audits, individual tutoring referrals, and completion goals.
  • Collaborates with other faculty to create and maintain a supportive and balanced system of academic instruction to ensure program goals and objectives.
  • Participates in committees, conferences, and Professional Development.
  • Works in conjunction with other college departments to facilitate recruiting, student success, and dual enrollment agreements at other higher education institutions and K-12.
  • Participates in departmental accreditation activities as identified by the Academic Director to ensure sustainable program accreditation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of active learning strategies, applied learning theories, and student engagement methodologies.
  • Current knowledge of trends influencing higher education and K-12, both statewide and nationally.
  • Ability to design, manage, and maintain departmental data using various platforms in the Microsoft suite, Google suite, and any other platforms used by the institution.
  • Ability to think creatively to innovate curriculum, resolve departmental challenges, and engage a diverse student population.
  • Knowledge of research methodology and information resources related to the designated field of study.
  • Knowledge of basic supervisory and coaching principles and practices.
  • Ability to supervise students in field work experience settings.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and maintain prompt, professional communication with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to initiate, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, including local school districts, higher education institutions across the state, and other professional organizations.
  • Skilled at conducting research utilizing high-quality, legitimate information sources.
  • Knowledge of counseling and advising methods and techniques.
  • Ability to prepare and present material for student learning.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office equipment, including computers and Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, and any other applications used by the college.
