About the role

Uplift's mission is to create and sustain public schools of excellence that empower each student to reach their highest potential in college and the global marketplace and that inspire in students a life-long love of learning, achievement, and service in order to positively change their world. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure a complete health services program for Uplift Education, providing students with health services, incorporating them into health education programs, and teaching preventive health practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to students, including routine, urgent, emergent, palliative, etc.
  • Comply with all regulations and guidelines set by the Texas BON and local health authorities
  • Provide basic health information to students and staff within Uplift Education's guidelines and as prescribed by the Texas BON
  • Assist with enrollment, attend ARDs and 504 meetings, and develop and implement IHPs as necessary
  • Collaborate with all departments across the network to ensure a safe environment for all students and staff
  • Conduct health screenings for students as required by the Texas Department of Health and Texas Education Agency
  • Plan and implement an ongoing evaluation of Health Services programs and make adaptations based on the results
  • Instruct students and staff in safety, health, and wellness
  • Administer vaccines according to the TVFC Program guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with school staff, physicians, parents, and the community
  • Serve on the Crisis Intervention and Emergency Management Teams for the school

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree from an accredited professional nursing education program and at least 1+ years of nursing experience as a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse.

Skills

  • Valid Registered Nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the Texas BON (preferred) or LVN license
  • American Heart Association BLS certification (required), BLS Instructor certification (preferred)
  • Communication skills: ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form in English
  • Bi-lingual skills (English and Spanish) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and other computer software
  • Knowledge of project management processes preferred

Work Environment

The work environment requires close proximity to other employees, frequent interruptions, extended periods of time viewing a computer screen, and noise levels from moderate to high. Travel within the Uplift network is required, and some weekends will be required.

Pay

The starting salary for this role is $46,200 (LVN) or $59,000 (RN).
