School Nurse

Qualifications

• Active NJ RN license and/or NJ DOE School Nurse Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care, triage, emergency care, and first aid to students and staff
• Administer daily medications and treatments in accordance with district policies and state regulations
• Screen for vision, hearing, scoliosis, and other required health assessments
• Serve as floating/backup health coverage across district school buildings when peer nurses are absent or during peak health service needs
• Collaborate with district nursing staff to ensure consistent care standards across all schools
• Accompany students on district-wide field trips to manage care plans, deliver medication, and ensure emergency preparedness
• Maintain accurate, confidential student medical records, immunizations, and individualized healthcare plans (IHPs/504s)
• Communicate proactively with parents, guardians, physicians, and school staff regarding student health concerns

Pay

The annual salary range is $66,705 (minimum) to $95,850 (maximum) for the 2026-2027 school year, commensurate with education level and years of experience.
