School Nurse

About the role

The School Registered Nurse serves as the school nurse in assigned buildings, providing comprehensive care to students and collaborating with school administration.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and documents all health concerns, prepares Individualized Health Plans
• Serves as a resource to School administration
• Performs high-level nursing duties for students with special health care needs
• Provides staff education for illnesses and conditions of students
• Manages medication administration with School System backup staff
• Mandated reporting of abuse/neglect
• Communicates with parents/guardians about student health issues
• Participates in communicable disease management

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing
• BLS certification
• Current state license in the state of Ohio
• ACLS preferred

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pediatric nursing
• Experience with special health care needs
• Ability to communicate effectively with children and families
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
