School Nurse Position Overview
Empowerment Academy is seeking a School Nurse to support students across four campuses: Elementary, Middle, and two High Schools. The position is open to start in the 2026/2027 school year and beyond.

Nurse Responsibilities
- Carrying out written orders and standing orders
- Conducting health screenings including height, weight, blood pressure, hearing, vision, and scoliosis
- Maintaining student health records
- Monitoring vital signs and general health status for emergent issues
- Recommendation for exclusion of students with unvaccinated children
- Annual review of student immunization records
- Recommendation for exclusion of students with communicable diseases
- Directing and supervising the emergency administration of epinephrine and training staff
- Administering asthma medication through nebulizer
- Directing and supervising health services activities
- Transmitting summaries of health and medical information to Child Study Teams
- Writing and updating individualized health care plans and emergency healthcare plans
- Implementing and assisting in developing healthcare procedures for emergencies
- Instructing teachers on communicable diseases and other health concerns
- Providing other nursing services as per certification
- Collaborating with staff in planning meetings and professional development
- Supervision of students during class, breaks, and meals
- Assisting with tasks related to student health and wellness
- Participation in school events outside of regular hours
Requirements
- Valid School Nurse certification in New Jersey
- Prior School Nurse experience preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students, families, staff, and community
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Self-starter and proactive approach to work
