School Extended Care Counselor

Job Summary

The School Extended Care Counselor will support the educational and developmental needs of students aged 3 to 11 during the 2025/2026 academic year. Responsibilities include overseeing the daily care and learning environment, managing student behavior, and providing a safe and engaging space for children.

Responsibilities

• Prompt and consistent attendance
• Management of students, including monitoring use of supplies
• Engagement with students indoors and outdoors
• Attendance to minor first aid needs
• Communication with parents and School administration
• Implementation of the daily program under the direction of the Extended Care Supervisor and Director of Special & Summer Programs
• Arrival on time and seeking approval for schedule changes or days off
• Providing full attention, engagement, and a positive attitude to students
• Maintaining a friendly and respectful relationship with students
• Learning and remembering students' names
• Flexibility to rotate or change locations within Extended Care areas
• Preparing snacks and supplies as directed
• Producing and submitting daily records of student arrivals and departures
• Completing and submitting Extended Care Behavioral/Incident and Injury Reports
• Participating in arrival, dismissal, and playground supervision
• Treating students and parents with dignity and respect
• Helping students understand their roles in a group
• Maintaining open and positive communication among team members
• Maintaining an awareness of the students' needs
• Maintaining current CPR/First Aid training

Requirements

• One (1) year professional training or practical experience in primary school education or childcare
• Maintenance of current CPR/First Aid training
• Ability to relate well to students and team members
