School Custodial Operations Manager

Campus Services Group is seeking a School Custodial Department Manager to serve in the community and lead our environmental services team.

About the role

Manages and supervises environmental services staff at a single campus, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and federal/state requirements. Provides leadership, coordination, and support to meet quality standards, safety guidelines, and customer service expectations. Coordinates project and program work across varying shifts, maintains records, and ensures equipment and supply readiness. Acts as a liaison between building occupants, administrators, and staff while performing custodial duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise environmental services staff according to company and regulatory standards.
• Ensure quality standards, inventory levels, safety guidelines, and customer service expectations are met.
• Coordinate and oversee timely completion of project and program work across shifts.
• Utilize protective gear in all appropriate functions.
• Maintain records of income, expenditures, supplies, personnel, and equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is functional and well-maintained.
• Maintain adequate janitorial supply inventory and conduct periodic inventories.
• Train new employees and recommend dismissals as needed.
• Act as liaison between building occupants/administrators and staff.
• Communicate directives from management, occupants, and administrators to staff.
• Perform duties of day porter, custodian, and floor technician as required.
• Conduct training, quality control, and in-servicing for staff, including daily building tours to assess work quality using QCIs for documentation.
• Maintain professional conduct as a department head within the school.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Two years’ experience in Environmental Services in a school or healthcare environment, including personnel supervision.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Ability to complete all required in-service training.
• Must be punctual and able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Understanding of basic infection control procedures.
• Ability to safely handle and mix chemicals.
• Willingness to work all shifts as needed.
• Knowledge of Environmental Services, laundry, and floor care program requirements.
• Ability to use all department equipment.
• Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Effective written, oral, and teaching communication skills.
• Public relations skills to promote programs and diffuse situations.
• Ability to interact positively with residents, clients, personnel, and the public.
• Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies, as required by state, local, or customer mandates.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
• Must live in the service area; no relocation costs provided.

Pay

USD $75,000.00 – USD $85,000.00 per year.
