School Counselor - IDEA San Juan College Prep (26-27)

About the role

The role of School Counselor leads the campus family engagement vision, social emotional learning program, and coordination of mental health and counseling supports for all scholars on the campus. Our key tenets of family engagement, social emotional learning, and student social emotional supports are implemented through the role of the School Counselor to ensure all staff are building authentic relationships with students and families.

Responsibilities

• Directs and holds all campus team members accountable to fulfill their role in supporting students and families.
• Ensures the authenticity of student and family engagement data and reports.
• Coordinates and administers parent and student surveys to gather feedback and implement improvements.
• Manages and documents at least ten hours of direct student services weekly.
• Collaborates with community agencies to provide and ensure student or family social/emotional needs are being met.
• Conducts regular observations and provides feedback on the implementation of the Move This World curriculum.
• Tracks and documents crises and conducts audits of data periodically.
• Creates and maintains Campus Crisis Binders and ensures all necessary assessments and documents are included.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field required.
• Valid TX School Counselor certification or counseling/social work licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LCSW-S, LPC-A, LPC, LMFT-A, LMFT) required.
• Proven track record of success in school counseling and related fields.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage student behavior and belief in and alignment with IDEA’s mission and values.

Pay

School Counselors' salaries typically range between $64,987 and $75,385, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity.

Schedule

This role is full-time and requires a significant amount of travel and flexibility to meet the needs of the school community.
