About the role
The Keystone School is seeking a School Counselor to join our talented team. This is a full-time position with the ability to work independently and travel up to 20% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Helps all students plan for postsecondary options, manage emotions, and set academic goals
- Develops and implements a comprehensive school counseling program
- Reviews transcripts and academic documentation for new and returning students
- Works collaboratively with teaching staff to develop a four-year graduation plan and audit student schedules
- Assists students in course placement and recommends AP and enrichment opportunities
- Analyzes student data and develops data-driven intervention action plans
- Provides short-term counseling and referrals for long-term support
- Supports standardized testing, parent education, and staff development
- Advocates for students at IEP meetings and other student-focused meetings
- Focuses students and families on goal setting and academic planning for college and career readiness
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement
- Valid School Counselor License
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based search engines, and database systems
- Flexible schedule; ability to travel as needed
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in school counseling
- Experience with distance learning
- Advanced coursework in counseling and administration
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and mandated reporting
- Experience with state career planning systems, such as Pathfinder
