School Counselor

Responsibilities

• Working with students of varying ability levels and providing data regarding student progress
• Sustaining the mandates of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for transition programs and services specifically designed for students with disabilities to achieve post-secondary goals
• Expanding career pathways by helping students build their academic, technical and professional skills through work-based learning experiences
• Offering career counseling, planning and participation in Career and Technical Education (CTE) coursework and work-based learning programs
• Implementing the mandates of Erin's Law to support social and emotional competencies for all students in school programs

Requirements

• New York State Education Department Certification: School Counselor
• Proven ability to develop and implement data-driven plans to meet individual student needs
• Experience working with students with disabilities at the middle and high school levels is preferred
• Demonstrated cultural competency through familiarity in working with students and families of diverse backgrounds
• Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in using Microsoft Office products
