School Counselor

Purpose of Position

A School Counselor at Catholic Charities:

• Provide individual and/or group counseling for students, aligned with the Multi-Tiered System of Support.
• Provide coordination, consultation, referral and informational services to staff, parents, and students, by attending grade level meetings as needed.
• Plan and facilitate the delivery of the school's social-emotional learning curriculum.

• Consult and collaborate with the special education or school resource teacher regarding necessary student behavioral or emotional supports.

• Gather, interpret, and evaluate data for program modification and interventions, as needed.
• Plan and present professional development to staff on topics related to youth and family mental health.
• Plan and present parent presentations on topics related to youth and family mental health.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences for academic and behavioral issues, when appropriate.
• Select, administer, and interpret various tests such as rating scales and behavioral/academic screeners commensurate with testing qualification level to provide additional information pertaining to academic/emotional needs.

Ministerial Requirements

• Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and/or intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043).
• Refrain from public promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Holds a professional license in school counseling or clinical mental health or is qualified to pursue one.
• Ability to complete the Safe Environment (Virtus) Training and a background check.
• Valid Colorado Driver's License, satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and proof of insurance.

Compensation

$60,000-$70,000 annually.
